Park named after Taras Grigorevich Shevchenko is situated opposite
the main bulk of the University in Vladimirskaya Street. The
square of the park is 5,4 hectares. The park was founded on
the waste territory in 60s of the 19th century (the gardener
Christiany K.) and was named University park. In 1896 the monument
to Nikholai I was erected in the park so it got the name Nikholaevsky
park. Shevchenko park poses a rectangular territory divided
with two general alleys (along the axles) and subsidiary diagonal
ones. Perimeter of the park is surrounded with picturesque roundabout
road. In 1939 the monument to Taras Grigirevich Shevchenko was
